For decades, retail shops and wholesale distributors in Bangladesh and emerging markets were forced to choose between two deeply flawed options: fragile, legacy desktop programs that crashed whenever hard drives failed, or generic Western cloud POS tools that ground to a halt the moment broadband or electricity fluctuated.
Meanwhile, shopkeepers struggled with real everyday pain points: unrecovered credit sales written in worn-out paper notebooks (বাকি খাতা), inaccurate profit calculations caused by ignoring transport costs, and messy distributor relationships managed over chaotic WhatsApp chats.
We built Dokan (দোকান) to fix this once and for all. A cloud-native shop operating system engineered with an offline-first Progressive Web App, 3-layer PostgreSQL database isolation, true weighted-average landed cost calculations, and a built-in B2B dealer network module.
